In the years immediately after the end of World War II, more than 2 million people left Great Britain, many to escape the United Kingdom's harsh rationing policies, which made it difficult to buy basic foodstuffs such as bread, sugar, meat and cheese.
Many have experienced love at first sight. Kimberly Hagan experienced something similar. We’ll call it love at first grade because that is when she first professed love for her future husband. “I have a drawing I did when I was in the first grade that my sister found in the attic of our old house after my father passed away,” shares Kimberly, 59. “It’s a drawing of a tree that I signed, and on it I wrote, I love Kip. He is my boyfriend.” Except that Kip wasn’t really Kimberly’s boyfriend at the time. Close friends throughout their childhood, Kimberly and Kip didn’t even date until nearly 40 years later. It wasn’t long after that, though, that they joined hands in marriage.
Renowned interior designer Claire Howle shares her inspiring journey of overcoming glaucoma, cataracts, and astigmatism with the help of Dr. Sarah S. Khodadadeh from Panacea Eye Center. After years of managing glaucoma with prescription eyedrops, Claire faced the challenge of cataracts, leading her to opt for microinvasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS) during cataract surgery. Dr. Khodadadeh implanted the iStent inject®, a tiny device that relieves intraocular pressure, eliminating the need for eyedrops. Claire's cataract surgery included a toric multifocal intraocular lens, correcting astigmatism and providing her with remarkable 20/20 vision without glasses. Claire praises Dr. Khodadadeh's expertise, describing her as one of the best doctors she's encountered, emphasizing the caring and supportive atmosphere at the Panacea Eye Center. Claire's journey is a testament to the transformative impact of advanced eye care procedures.
The eyes are the windows to the soul, or so the saying goes. But they are also windows to your world and living with impaired vision can be challenging. Perhaps you’ve noticed the picture on the TV isn’t as clear as it used to be. Or you see halos around light, have blurry vision or difficulty adjusting to changes in lighting conditions. If these visual disturbances are interfering with daily activities such as reading, driving and recognizing faces, a trip to the optometrist is highly recommended.
In this retrospective study, Johnson and Sarkisian reported 12-month clinical results for the success and complication rates of patients undergoing trabeculectomy with the Ex-Press Glaucoma Filtration Device (Alcon Laboratories, Inc.) using a collagen matrix implant (Ologen; Optous) compared to those of patients undergoing the same procedure using mitomycin C (MMC).
